The Beauty of Our Home Town

Town Supervisor

A Message from Supervisor, Toni Hokanson

Welcome to the Town of New Paltz website! Explore the calendar in the upper right hand corner of the home page; click on the name of the month for a detailed calendar page for that month.

Announcements:

If there is a road closure within the Town due to weather conditions, the New Paltz Police Department will "tweet" the closing which automatically places it on their website and for anyone who follows them on Twitter (@NewPaltzPD). The road closings will also be placed on their message at 255.7123. That phone line is intended to give the most up to date information on the road closures and openings. Road openings will not be posted on Twitter, only road closures.

RFP:  The Town of New Paltz is soliciting proposals from qualified planning/accounting firms to provide consultant services for assessment and analysis of municipal governance and service delivery alternatives.  The Town and Village of New Paltz seek to study merger, consolidation, dissolution and shared services.  To see full details of the Municipal Governance RFP, click here.

The Department of Social Services is participating in a State pilot to facilitate Food Stamp benefits via the telephone and internet (www.myBenefits.ny.gov) for Ulster County residents. Households no longer neet to physically visit DSS to apply for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) - Food Stamps' new name. As a result, the practice of sending DSS representatives to New Paltz offices to enable individuals and families to apply and/or recertify SNAP benefits is no longer necessary and will discontinue effective November 2, 2009.

Please note the new "Public Hearings" tab on the Town Council page for relevant documentation. Town Board minutes are now posted on the Town Council page. Click the "Minutes" tab for the links to approved minutes.

Town Board Meetings can now be viewed on the internet - Select "Committees" at the Left of this page, then select "Public Access," then select tab "View TB Meetings."

NPPD emergency event and information telephone line: The New Paltz Police Department has activated a new "emergency event and information" telephone line which can be called 24 hours a day. Effective immediately, interested parties can dial 845.255.7123 around the clock and listen to a recorded announcement. As always, if you have an emergency in New Paltz, call 845.255.1323 or 9-1-1.

Community Partnership for a Safer New Paltz has a new website. Please visit them at http://www.safernewpaltz.org/.
