Announcements:
The Town Board has scheduled a special meeting for Friday, March 12th at 9:30am in Town Hall. The Board will then meet as the Personnel Committee for the purpose of hiring, firing, promotion, demotion or discipline of a particular individual.
If there is a road closure within the Town due to weather conditions, the New Paltz Police Department will "tweet" the closing which automatically places it on their website and for anyone who follows them on Twitter (@NewPaltzPD). The road closings will also be placed on their message at 255.7123. That phone line is intended to give the most up to date information on the road closures and openings. Road openings will not be posted on Twitter, only road closures.
Comprehensive Plan: For the past year a consultant and a dedicated group of town officials, committee persons and board members have work to prepare a draft comprehensive plan for the Town of New Paltz. The plan was developed from input received through two public meetings, a survey to a cross section of residents and stakeholder meetings and interviews. Now, it is time for public review of the draft which can be downloaded at http://www.pjscompany.com/NewPaltz_CompPlan_Feb2010.pdf
Three public meetings will be held at the New Paltz Community Center. The plan will be presented and participants will be able to submit comments at the meeting, by email to compplan@townofnewpaltz.org or to the Town Supervisor at PO Box 550 New Paltz, NY. The meeting dates are March 19, 2010 7:00 PM, March 20, 2010 9:00 AM, or 1:30 PM. Three identical presentations are being held to enable more residents to fit this into their already active lives.
RFP: The Town of New Paltz is soliciting proposals from qualified planning/accounting firms to provide consultant services for assessment and analysis of municipal governance and service delivery alternatives. The Town and Village of New Paltz seek to study merger, consolidation, dissolution and shared services. To see full details of the Municipal Governance RFP, click here.
The Department of Social Services is participating in a State pilot to facilitate Food Stamp benefits via the telephone and internet (www.myBenefits.ny.gov) for Ulster County residents. Households no longer need to physically visit DSS to apply for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) - Food Stamps' new name. As a result, the practice of sending DSS representatives to New Paltz offices to enable individuals and families to apply and/or re-certify SNAP benefits is no longer necessary and will discontinue effective November 2, 2009.
Please note the new "Public Hearings" tab on the Town Council page for relevant documentation. Town Board minutes are now posted on the Town Council page. Click the "Minutes" tab for the links to approved minutes.
