PLANS / THE PROGRESS / FUNDRAISING / VOLUNTEERS / CONTACTS
Building on 70 acres on Libertyville Road, across from the Ulster County Fairgrounds. This project is taking an unused parcel of land, already off the tax roles, and converting it into a vital source of recreational facilities where none currently exist while protecting open space for both community and county residents. It is being done through the support and generosity of the community, with the recreational leagues having already raised and pledged monetary and in kind service. With the receipt of a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant of $250,000 we are one step closer, but more support is needed to see the entire project completed. Click on drawing for larger view.

We have been fortunate to have several members of the community come forward to help us lay the groundwork for the first phase of the park project.

FUNDRAISING
We need community support to build the park of our "Dreams": The New Paltz Sports and Recreation Park. To date we have cleared land for 3 softball fields, entrenched drainage for one, planted outfield grass and begun adding infrastructure such as the drainage pond and the roadway that travels the perimeter of the park. With the help of the community and in-kind services from local organizations we have achieved more than anticipated this summer. Your support is needed to make the New Paltz Sports and Recreation Park a "Dream" come true.
Engraved Pavers
We are offering everyone an opportunity to become a permanent part of the facility through the purchase of engraved pavers. They will be a part of a network of walkways linking the facility. Supporting the park will insure the future generations a place to enjoy.

MISSION STATEMENT
The New Paltz Parks and Recreation Department is committed to giving residents of all ages the opportunity to participate in positive leisure activities, both passive and active, group and individual, by providing programs and facilities allowing for physical, social and mental interaction, enhancing the community's quality of life while preserving our natural environment.
FACILITIES
BMX Track - Bicycle Motorcross Racing - Located on Clearwater Road off Route 32 North, the track hosts practice runs, races and special events. Practice runs are held on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm and racing is done on Thursdays and Fridays. The track is the site of the New York State Qualifier Race and has hosted the Northeast Regionals. For detailed information, visit http://www.newpaltzbmx.net/.
Clearwater Park - Also located on Clearwater Road, the park is home to three youth baseball fields utilized by our recreational baseball leagues in the spring, summer and fall.
New Paltz Sports and Recreation Park - Also known as the Field of Dreams Project, upon completion the first approximate 35 acres will be the site of 4 tournament size softball fields, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a playground, concession and first aid station and restrooms. Currently we are using a $250,000 Land and Water Conservation grant awarded to New Paltz for the Sports and Recreation Park to assist in the installation of the first 2 ballfields. Additional funding is being generously supplied through the adult recreation leagues, specifically those involved with softball. Together with monies raised in the past through various fundraisers, one softball field will be ready for play in early Spring of 2009 with a second field ready by the latter part of the 09 Spring. The public is welcome to forward ideas, programs and comments, the park is evolving, be part of the development. The park will also offer ice skating on a shallow pond and sledding as well as a revival of the Winter Carnival. Volunteers are welcome!
