The New Paltz Police Department’s medical program was established in 1998 and was the first police medical program of its kind. Police personnel were initially trained as Certified First Responders and in the use of an AED.
The medical program has evolved through the years. Currently police personnel are minimally certified in ASHI Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED for Professional Rescuer, Tactical Combat Casualty Care and in the administration of Intranasal Naloxone. The department’s medical program is under the direct supervision of Dr. Eric Stutt.
The photographs above depict the equipment carried by officers; a stocked medical bag, AED and Intransal Naloxone kit.
“Our medical program continues to evolve under the supervision of Dr. Stutt. Our officers have administered medical assistance countless times since our program’s inception, we take pride in being able to give back to the community with this service”, said New Paltz Police Chief Joseph Snyder.
