Ulster County COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Applications Available

Deadline for document submission has been extended to June 22nd

The program provides emergency rental assistance payments for up to three months for a maximum of $3,000, for renters that were directly impacted by a reduction or loss of income due to COVID-19.  Only households outside the City of Kingston* are eligible to apply.  There are Household income limits for the program listed below.  Priority will be given to lower income households earning at or less than 60% area median income.  A lottery will determine who receives assistance.  Funds can be used to pay back rent beginning on April 1, 2020 and/or future rental payments.

 In anticipation of a high volume of need, only complete applications that include the on-line application along with six (6) required documents will be entered into the lottery. Funding will serve approximately 50 households.

Paper copies of the applications are available at the dropbox at RUPCO offices on 289 Fair Street.

The deadline for applications is Friday, June 12th at 2 pm.  However, the agency has extended the deadline to Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2 pm for the submission of required documentation.  The lottery to select applicants will be held on Tuesday June 23, 2020.

* The City of Kingston receives a direct allocation of similar funds therefore County CDBG funds must be utilized outside the City.  RUPCO has applied for funding for City of Kingston residents.  When and if those funds are secured, RUPCO will open another application and lottery for renters in the City of Kingston.
