NEW PALTZ POLICE DEPARTMENT
83 South Putt Corners Road, Suite 1, New Paltz, New York 12561

Press Release: Tuesday September 7, 2017

The New Paltz Police Department will be participating in National Child Passenger Safety Week which is September 17th through the 23rd. As part of their efforts, the New Paltz Police Department will be conducting a child passenger safety check on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Shoprite, 258 Main Street, New Paltz. The event will be located in the northeast corner of Shoprite’s parking lot directly behind Sunoco. Safety seat technicians from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and SUNY Ulster will be assisting with the safety seat check.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old. Many deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts. Getting safety information and car seat instructions to parents and caregivers is crucial to saving young lives.

Parents with questions or concerns regarding the proper installation or fitment of their child’s car seat are encouraged to stop in for a free inspection. No appointment is necessary. Three out of four car seats are being used incorrectly. Make sure that your child is secured in the safest manner possible!
Additionally, appointments can be made for child seat inspections and installations at the New Paltz Police Department throughout the year by calling (845) 255-1323.
