Wappingers Falls man Charged with Domestic Offenses

Michael G. Detheridge age: 28
Wappingers Falls, New York 12590


Mr. Detheridge was arrested on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at about 4:00 pm and charged as follows;
 One Count of Aggravated Family Offense a Class E Felony
 One Count of Assault in the Third Degree a Class A Misdemeanor
 One Count of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing a Class A Misdemeanor


On May 3, 2020 at approximately 10:45 pm, the New Paltz Police Department responded to a residence in the
Town of New Paltz for a report of a domestic dispute involving a male and female. Upon arrival, officers
located and interviewed a woman who told them that Mr. Detheridge choked and assaulted, including pushing
her and causing her head to strike a kitchen counter. Mr. Detheridge left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
Upon further investigation, it was learned that the defendant has prior convictions for a family offense within
the past 5 years, constituting the charge of Aggravated Family Offense for this incident. The victim was treated
at the scene for her injuries and released.


Mr. Detheridge turned himself in to the New Paltz Police Department on May 7, 2020 and was processed on the
above charges. Mr. Detheridge was arraigned before Town Justice Weires and released on his own
recognizance to return back to New Paltz Court at a later date. Judge Weires also issued a temporary order of
protection to Mr. Detheridge.
