On May 10, 2017 at about 01:44am New Paltz Police responded to a residence on Church Street in the Village of New Paltz for a report of a domestic dispute involving the use of a knife. Upon officers arrival the male party was outside the residence and stated that he was struck several times by Ms. Martin, a former girlfriend. The male party also stated that Ms. Martin was armed with a knife and had made threats to harm herself. Officers made entry into the residence and located Ms. Martin in a bedroom with her arms hidden under blankets.

Officers repeatedly advised Ms. Martin to show her hands to ensure that she was no longer armed with a knife but Ms. Martin refused. After a brief interaction officers were able to determine that she was no longer armed and attempted to take Ms. Martin into custody. At this time, Ms. Martin turned over and placed her arms under her chest and refused to be handcuffed. After a brief struggle she was handcuffed and subsequently transported to the New Paltz Police Department for processing.

Ms. Martin was processed at the New Paltz Police Department and arraigned in the Town of Gardiner Court by Justice Robert Rich. She was remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. She is to appear in the Town of New Paltz Court on 05/10/2017 at 6:00pm.
