Update on Car/Pedestrian Hit and Run

The New Paltz Police Department is continuing their investigation of a car vs. pedestrian hit and
run accident that occurred in the early morning of May 7, 2017.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday May 7, 2017 New Paltz Police responded to two 911 calls
reporting that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and left the scene. The accident occurred in the
Southside Apartment complex parking lot located off of Southside Avenue in the Village of New
Paltz. The victim was transported to an area hospital for non- life threatening injuries. The
victim has since been released from the hospital but is continuing medical treatment for injuries
sustained from the accident.

The victim and several witnesses were walking in the Southside Apartment parking lot when a vehicle
approached quickly from the rear of the complex. The victim was struck by the front driver side
area of the offending vehicle and knocked to the ground. The other witnesses at the scene attempted
to get the vehicle to stop, but the vehicle continued and was last seen driving towards the Water
Street/Plains Road area. The offending vehicle is described as a dark colored sport utility
vehicle.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call the New Paltz Police
Department at (845) 255- 1323.  The reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction
of the offender from this incident has been
raised to $10,000.00. All calls will be kept confidential.
