New Paltz Sustainability Film Series November 1st from 7pm to 9pm at the Cafeteria Coffee House on 56 Main Street New Paltz, NY 12561. This provocative series will challenge you to change how you view "garbage" and become more self reliant while living a sustainable lifestyle. A second screening will be held at the Community Center on Nov 9th from 1-4pm

The first film is Alex Eaves ReUse:Because You Can't Recycle the Planet. The story of a entrepreneur who travels across North America to find out what other people are doing with materials or items that can be reused. The second film is Just Eat It - a film about food lovers Jen and Grant who dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away. In a nation where one in 10 people is food insecure, the images they capture of squandered groceries are both shocking and strangely compelling. This film is sponsored by the Hudson Valley Regional Council. Funding provided by the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute through a grant from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Any opinions, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the NYS Pollution Prevention Institute or Department of Environmental Conservation.
