Town of New Paltz to join the Ulster County Housing Smart Communities Initiative
On July 6th, 2023 the New Paltz Town Board took the first step https://hsci.ulstercountyny.gov/certification-process/ in becoming a Housing Smart Community as part of the Ulster County Housing Smart Communities Initiative https://hsci.ulstercountyny.gov/
The next two steps are to:
1. Designate a Housing Smart Community Coordinator who will be the point person between the municipality and Ulster County, and will manage and track any documentation required for the certification process and,
2. Form a Housing Task Force that will review the Housing Smart Actions and select which action the municipality will complete and when. The task force will have regularly scheduled meetings and should assist with the establishment of community outreach and educational campaign on the importance of developing a range of housing options.
