Announcements

  1. The Town of New Paltz’s Office for Community Wellness (OCW) along with the New Paltz Youth Program and the Ulster Prevention Council are excited to announce the 3rd Annual New Paltz Community Picnic and outdoor movie event.  This community “double-header” will begin with a community picnic from 6:30 PM through 8:30 PM on Saturday, July 15th,  at Hasbrouck Park, located at 15 Mohonk Avenue in New Paltz. In the event we have inclement weather, the events will take place on Sunday, July 16th.  The Community Picnic will have a free BBQ, music, and activities for children, including a bounce house. Following the picnic and shortly after sunset, there will be a community showing of the Super Mario Bros. Movie (rated PG). Free popcorn and bottled water will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Community members are invited to attend one or both substance-free events. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and insect repellant. We are sure to have a great time!

    2. Authorization to approve an amendment to the June 23rd, 2021 agreement between the Town of New Paltz and Barton & Loguidice, D.P.C. for Professional services for Plains Road Water Supply
    3. Authorization to open a Planning Board escrow account for property owner Sean Verney, Application PB23-166, an Accessory Apartment application for 7 Watch Hill Road.  Initial escrow amount: $1,500.00, replenishment amount: $625.00
    4. Authorization for Diane Lee, Assessor Clerk, to participate in the Cornell Seminar on Professional Development, Course 1: Appraisal Principles and Procedures (in person and online), from July 16th to 21st, 2023 for $445.00
    5. Authorization for the following Planning Board (PB) and Zoning Board (ZBA) members to attend a New York Planning Federation training session in Hyde Park on September 12th, 2023 for $105.00 each (member discount included) to fulfill the 4-hour requirements for 2023 for each member – Steve Esposito (ZBA), Leonard Loza (ZBA), John Gotto (ZBA), Adrian Capulli (PB), Jane Schanberg (PB), Lauren McPadden (PB), and Lyle Nolan (PB)
    6. Request authorization to pay CDE Electric, Pay Application #6, in the amount of $18,188.70 for the Phase II Backup Water Supply
  5. Authorization to update the Tuition Assistance Policy with the following changes, beginning in January 2024:
    1. The Town will cover the cost of college tuition for full-time employees (at least 30 hours per week), up to $3,000 in a calendar year.
      1. An employee must:
        1. Provide an invoice to the Town Board detailing the course of study and the cost for that semester’s classes.
        2. Attain at least a "C" in the classes taken or they will need to pay back the Town for money received.
        3. Remain an employee with the Town of New Paltz for a year following the completion of the course(s) or else pay back the Town for money received.
        4. If the employee resigns, is terminated, or needs to leave due to a disability (or other extreme measures) prior to the mandatory one-year commitment to the Town, the amount due the Town will be taken from the employee’s last paycheck and any other eligible payout.  If a balance still exists, the employee will be billed by the Town for recovery of funds.
  6. Accept and approve the retirement of Sergeant Duke L. Bunce II as a Police Officer from the New Paltz Police Department, effective July 23rd, 2023
  7. Accept and approve the retirement of William Merten as Town Mechanic from the Highway Department, effective June 20th, 2023
  8. Approval to hire Nicholas Newell at the union rate of Mechanic in the Highway Department, with a start date of July 24th, 2023
  9. Authorization for the Community Wellness Department to advertise with Ethan Allen Staffing to fill an open position
  10. Authorization for the Town of New Paltz to join the Ulster County Housing Smart Communities Initiative
  11. Review the 3-month Rescue Squad Contract and discuss extending their contract
  12. Authorization to approve a resolution and notice of determination of non-significance-negative declaration re: Elting Memorial Library Ballot Proposition 2023, increasing the Elting Memorial Library budget by $65,000.00 annually to $721,000.000 dollars annually
  13. Authorization to purchase 2023 Chevy Trailblazer for Building Department from NYS bid for $30,897.50
